課程概述 |
This year-long course teaches students to write academic research papers, especially for but not limited to those who expect to enter graduate program or go abroad for further study. The second semester focuses on practicing the steps of writing a research paper from scratch, that is, from deciding on a research topic, gathering and evaluating sources, writing proposals and outlines, formatting bibliography, to writing drafts and revision. Students will write a research paper (10-12 pages) citing at least 8 references. For the purpose of effective training, students are strongly advised to work on literature-related topics. |

課程目標 |
1. Students will learn to find research topics and propose a research project.
2. Students will develop their own thesis and support it with references.
3. Students will practice summarizing and paraphrasing references so as to avoid plagiarism.
4. Students will conduct independent research and organize their research results in clear, logical, and persuasive written English, meanwhile strengthening logical thinking and argumentation skills. |
